“150 consecutive marathons. A Guinness record. From the highest part of mainland Australia to the lowest.” Speaking is the Australian Erchana Murray-Bartlett, who as aim to set a new world record for completing the most consecutive marathons ever run by a woman. Nothing more and nothing less than 150, and all for a good cause. At the moment it has already been beaten the 106 that Britain’s Kate Jayden got in August 2022 when December 3rd marked 107 days since this adventure began.
On a warm morning of August 20 Murray-Bartlett started running from Cape York (Australia) and plans to run to Melbourne (‘the toe’ of Australia, hence the name of his fundraiser and of this grand distance race: in English “tip toe 2022“). At the moment, he has already covered 4,853 kilometers and 115 marathons, and although there are still 1,477 kilometers to gorain, humidity or heat won’t stop her until she reaches her 150th marathon, she says an interview with Canadian media.

After more than 110 days of running, Erchana confesses that physical and mental problems are already playing tricks on her, but her mind is stronger and has his eyes fixed on his target. “To be honest, I’m exhausted. My hips, feet, legs, and back hurt. I’m also feeling a little emotionally drained. Now the challenge is to keep going, and I’m excited to see what my body can do to do .” account.
Murray-Bartlett is 32 years old and quite experienced in running, having been an elite athlete for ten years. And this adventure of setting a new world record for running consecutive marathons was not done to boost his ego, but for a good cause.: Raise money to save endangered animals. “I love Australia’s native animals. I think they are incredibly unique. We currently have almost 500 native animals on the endangered species list.
