Manuel Bartlett, Director of the Federal Electricity Commission: “We saved the CFE despite the changes that have threatened it with extinction, it is not rhetoric, the system imposed by the energy reform has led the CFE to an absurd fragmentation. With the disappearance of the CFE, electricity will disappear as a human right for everyone.”
In celebration of the centenary of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Mexico Section, the General Director of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), Manuel Bartlett Díaz, reaffirmed the CFE’s social commitment to the Mexican people and its importance for the economic development of the country.
In Acapulco, Guerrero, as part of the IEEE’s International Summer Meeting on Power and Industrial Applications (RVP-AI) and the International Autumn Meeting on Communications, Computing and Electronics (ROCC), Bartlett Díaz indicated that, as part of de To strengthen energy security in Mexico, the CFE has entered into several strategic alliances with the North American and Canadian private energy sectors.
For example, he pointed to the alliance with the company TC Energía, which will develop the extension of the marine pipeline to Coatzacoalcos to bring natural gas to the Mexican southeast. Thanks to this pipeline, 60 percent of CFE plants are currently also able to consume natural gas at affordable prices.
Likewise, the head of the CFE recalled the importance of the rescue of the CFE, as it is the country’s most important social enterprise, electrifying thousands and thousands of kilometers of transmission and distribution lines and networks, and has managed to save lives of indigenous women or remote rural communities.
“We have undertaken the rescue of the CFE in the face of the changes that have threatened it with extinction, it is not rhetoric, the system imposed by the energy reform has led the CFE to an absurd fragmentation. With the disappearance of the CFE, electricity will disappear as a human right for everyone,” he told those in attendance.
Finally, it celebrated the centenary of the IEEE Mexico section, the contributions of the engineers who have contributed to the technical development of the electrical sector for decades, and the work of the electrician personnel, especially during unforeseen circumstances.
Upon his participation, Ray Liu, World President of the IEEE, recognized the General Director of the CFE for his support and participation in the Institute. He said the contributions of the engineers and technicians have enabled great advances in energy for the benefit of humanity.
Ricardo Mota, General Director of the National Center for Energy Control and Vice President of the IEEE Mexico Section, and Salvador Portillo, President of the National Chamber of Electrical Manufactures, thanked the organization of the forum that promotes scientific dissemination and the development of new technologies. promotes to expand and modernize the National Electric System.
Present at the event were Rafael Ramírez, Technical Director of the IEEE Mexico Section; Pablo Realpozo, President of the IEEE Mexico Council; Jorge Hernández, Chair of the IEEE ROCC 2022 Meeting and Enrique Tejera, Regional Director of IEEE Latin America.
