There’s nothing that screams ‘2000’ louder than blackberry, those devices that marked a before and after in mobile phone connectivity. Perhaps that was the idea that led to the realization of a film to tell the history of Blackberry that will tell the best and worst moments of the Canadian company.
The film is no longer just a project, as it was revealed this week that shooting in Canada has already been completed, although we don’t know at this point when it could be released on the big screen. What we do know is that It’s an adaptation of the book Losing the signal: the spectacular rise and fall of BlackBerry written by journalists Sean Silcoff and Jacquie McNish and published in 2015.

In the Blackberry movie, Glen Howerton (It’s always sunny in Philadelphia), who will play the role of Jim Balsillie, former CEO of Research in Motion. In the cast we also find Jay Baruchel (this is the end) as Mike Lazaridis, co-founder of the company that would bring Blackberry to life.
What happened to Blackberry?
Blackberry could not resist the arrival of Android and iOS devices and was gradually displaced from the mobile phone business. Last year sold its patents to Huawei, hitting the final nail in the company’s coffin, at least when it comes to mobile phones. Today, Research in Motion mainly focuses on offering solutions in the field of cybersecurity and the Internet of Things (IoT).
