* His campaigns for the presidency, open trenches * Sheinbaum, already running as president * Marcelo, cautious, supports candidates * Adán, quiet in the interior * They break the law with pre-campaigns * Liltio, interest is extinguished
Only serenity is worth it, when there’s fire below.
José Luis Sampedro (1917-2013) Spanish writer and economist.
The ambition for power and money, in the political class, especially Morena, is overflowing.
Two banks have been established. One formed by the followers of Claudia Sheinbaum, the head of government in Mexico City, and Marcelo Ebrard, Minister of Foreign Relations.
Each throws himself into the electoral arena with his characteristic style, not caring about the forms or the law. They are desperate to get the attention of Morena’s “top” voter, Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
It doesn’t matter how, but they fight hand in hand, to come and sit in the “cursed chair”, as agricultural leader Emiliano Zapata said at the time to the presidency of the republic in 2024.
But this has its consequences.
Regardless of the fact that Moreno’s top boss himself opened the floodgates so that his best horses could break their backs in the presidential handicap, they are breaking cabinet discipline.
Now they are turning their backs on AMLO. The Morenist troops prefer to applaud each of the candidates; especially in Claudia’s favor.
She reaches every state in the country and, whether they are one of Morena’s 6 candidates for governorships, they bow at her feet. They show him total reverence and forget who gave birth to that party, heir to the PRI election tricks. In a few words, López Obrador became a second table dish.
The divisions in the cabinet do not become clear when they are close to AMLO, say behind his back.
We see the servility with which many government secretaries, such as Rocío Nalhe, knelt last weekend, alongside Alejandro Murat and Carlos Merino (governors of Oaxaca and Tabasco). The governor of Campeche Layda Sansores did the same. The pretext was to “review” the works of Dos Bocas in Tabasco.
First, Shinbaum is the head of Mexico City’s government and does not hold any job at the federal level, nor is she the “vice president” or anything that “needs to be notified”.
Second, they had nothing to do in Tabasco, the governor of Campeche, Sansores de Morena, let alone PRI member Alejandro Murat, of the PRI. This is very serious, as the Oaxacan paints his line, as a faithful man of Morena and as an enemy of the party that has given him power and a lot of money, both to him and to his father, José Murat.
But the catastrophic thing is that the Energy Minister, Rocío Nalhe, is answerable only to López Obrador and now they are no longer answerable to him, but to those who show gestures of “preference”.
Marcelo campaigns only for state governments. Nothing serious, but there they show him compassion and call him “Marcelo president”. He is cautious and less daring than the daughter of college professors.
In either case, the support groups are let loose and, in Claudia’s special case, forms break down and she begins to separate from López Obrador’s loyal flock.
The third, most likely to reach the presidential candidacy, is Adán López, who is kept in the Covián Palace, without causing major cramps. However, his level of passivity removes him from the sympathy of that party’s bases.
They already have to let go of the reins of the opposition candidates to have a solid presence for a party that will not put AMLO on the ballot and because of this it loses favors.
