The University Hospital Virgen de las Nieves in Granada has welcomed the visit of a group of health workers from the Canadian Hospital in Toronto who have come to learn about the organization of a public hospital and some areas of development typical of a reference hospital in the health system Andalusian public.
A dozen Canadian professionals, including doctors, managers and nurses, were received by the management team who, in an introductory meeting, discussed the operation and strengths of this hospital as an example of avant-garde with the medical director, the nursing director and the director of management and services. and quality of care, as the hospital explains in a press release.
This group of international experts has chosen to visit this health center because of its size, high scientific, technological and health quality. Canadian GP, Lorna D’Silva, thanked “the warm and wonderful welcome of the Granada team and the availability to show high-tech surgical areas”.
Granada Hospital Medical Director Manuel Liñán has indicated that “a visit has been designed based on the expectations of the Canadian team with an interesting subsequent dialogue discussing areas of joint development aimed at highlighting the commitment and values supported by the Andalusian public health system”.
The director of Nursing, Yolanda Mejías, has emphasized the importance of the BPSO Centers Committed to Excellence program of good care practices, implemented in the hospital in 2015, “whose main aim is to provide quality nursing care, based on the best available evidence, to achieve better clinical outcomes with the people cared for at our center”.
For Mejías, this meeting is of great importance because “it will make it easier to bridge the gap between the two health systems as this program for the incorporation of guidelines for good practice in care is led by the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario in Canada .”
