Queretaro, Qro. Canada’s EXFO, a specialist in fiber testing solutions, will install an operations center in the Querétaro Industrial Park, in the state capital; It is investing 150 million pesos in the project, with the expectation to generate between 100 and 200 jobs.
The telecommunications company will operate a fiber optic and test equipment factory in the entity, in addition to developing solutions for network operations, for Internet service providers and communications manufacturers, said EXFO’s general manager of Products, David Prosser.
The new investment is preceded by manufacturing sites in the United Kingdom, China and Taiwan; With the city of Querétaro, the company is now present in Mexico.
“EXFO has a wide range of software equipment and services that enable a more secure and efficient deployment of fiber networks,” he said.
The company expects recruitment to begin in the summer to begin operations by the end of the year.
It is estimated that between 25 and 30% of jobs in the new plant will be technical profiles, said the Secretary of Sustainable Development (Sedesu), Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero.
With this project, the entity collects 26 investments made this year, involving a capital of 11,328 million pesos and nearly 7,000 new jobs.

The investment relates to the electronics sector, a branch that produced 3,954 million pesos in the state from January to April 2022, an annual increase of 5.6 percent through the manufacture of computer, communications, measurement and other equipment.
According to the IMSS, the electrical and electronic appliances and accessories manufacturing sector generated 7,253 formal jobs in the entity as of last May.
In terms of state exports, the computer, communications, measurement and other equipment manufacturing sector accounted for 8% of the total value by 2021, the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) reports.
